I felt it was appropriate that the first blog post would honor Noel Tyl and his indirect influence on astroPeregrine. Most astrologers whom I know are well aware that I am a trained and practicing Tyl Astrologer. In fact, I spent over 17 years under Noel’s tutelage. I graduated with the Highest Honors from his Masters Certification Program. Sadly, Noel Tyl, my friend and mentor, passed away a few years back. I continue to trust that God will bless and reward him for a job well done! Noel, thank you and salute!
The first version of astroPeregrine’s feature set was influenced, as I mentioned, by Noel Tyl’s approach to astrology. My goal was to create an easy-to-use astrology software program for Mac and Windows. An astrology program that helps Tyl Astrology consultants and students prepare efficiently for client consultations. That has already been accomplished!
If you haven’t been exposed to Tyl Astrology, this is what is required:
- Natal Chart
- Solar Arcs for a particular date
- Transits for a particular date
- Secondary Progressed Moon for a particular date.
- Bi-wheel (natal chart in inner ring and Solar Arcs in outer ring)
- Tri-wheel (natal chart in inner ring, Solar Arcs in middle ring and Transits in outer ring)
- Midpoint Listing
- Time scan
These have all been available for years. They’ve been refined and enhanced based upon user feedback.

In reality, creating an astrology program had been a dream of mine going back to the late 1990s. In fact, in the early 2000s, I created some specialized astrology reports to use in preparation for my client consultations.
It took a while for astroPeregrine to really take form. I spent time learning astronomy, developing a graphic language for charts and reports, and creating a robust world atlas.
Of course, I have added many more chart types than a Tyl astrologer would ever use, such as harmonic, draconic, and Piano charts. There are over 20 house systems to choose from, the ability to place a planet on the Ascendant and redraw the chart, nascent horary features, and animated views.
astroPeregrine has a robust time scan with two well organized screens and printed listing reports. You can export the timescan as a text file and import it to any spreadsheet to filter as you please. A scan can currently be adjusted to start from around the year 1800 and can be effectively utilized for any year up to 3000 AD and beyond. I am working on extending the range backwards and forwards.
astroPeregrine has a large number of preferences that can be set. These can be done ‘globally’ as a default or can be set ad hoc on a chart by chart basis.
